I know it can be confusing when you first start baking for a new diet. What gluten free flour should I use? What about dairy free chocolate? Which non-dairy milk should I try? I thought I’d put together a little list of my favorite allergy friendly products. There are a lot of options out there, and you shouldn’t be afraid to experiment! These are the brands that I feel are tried and true. These are the staples that I keep in my own pantry.

ALLERGY FRIENDLY INGREDIENTS
Bob’s Red Mill Wheat Free Biscuit & Baking Mix – This is one of the most reliable gluten free baking mixes, in my opinion. It does have xanthan gum added to the mix, so you don’t need to worry about it. I find that it works really well for cookies, muffins, and even pie crust.
Featherweight Baking Powder – This is my favorite baking powder – it works wonderfully and it is corn-free. It was a lifesaver when we were avoiding corn. I always have a few cans in my pantry because I hate it when we run out!
Ground Golden Flax Seed – This golden ground flax seed makes the best egg replacers! You can use any ground flax seed to make egg replacers, but I find that this one is the best. The color blends in to whatever you are making, and it really helps hold baked goods together.
Madhava Organic Coconut Sugar – I have recently started to use more coconut sugar. It tastes great – you can use it in place of sugar or brown sugar, and it is a healthier natural sweetener. I use this sugar in cookies, cakes, and muffins.
Enjoy Life Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and Chunks – These chocolate chips and chunks are the best! Dairy free, rich, and delicious, these are our favorite chocolate chips. They are free of the top 8 allergens, so they work for many dietary needs. I love the mini chips for cookies, and the chunks are great for banana bread, muffins, or just eating them from the bag. :)
Dandies Original Vanilla Marshmallows – These marshmallows are gluten free and vegan. I have used them to make rice krispies treats, and they melted very nicely and had a really good flavor! They also come in a mini variety.
Mrs. Glee’s Gluten Free Performance Blend – This is a great gluten free blend that is made in Michigan! I love to buy local products when I can.
Tinkyada Brown Rice Elbows – This brand of gluten free pasta is very nice – not too sticky, and it works really well for macaroni and cheese.
India Tree All Natural Decorating Sugars – I am a big fan of India Tree sugars. It’s so nice to have beautiful colors to choose from without the artificial dye.
