Try these easy layered patriotic fruit and yogurt popsicles for your 4th of July bash this year! You’ll love the POP of fresh berry flavors!
I’m happy to have Sarah from Whole and Heavenly Oven here today to share a popsicle recipe with us! She has such a wide variety of delicious recipes on her blog. I’m always inspired by her lovely recipes and photos. I’m so impressed that she makes her own barbecue sauce and hamburger buns, and these Gluten Free Chocolate Cupcakes are calling my name! Thanks for being here today, Sarah!
Hey there! I’m Sarah from Whole and Heavenly Oven where I share mostly healthy and MEGA delish recipes. I’m so pumped to be guest-posting for Kelly today on her gorgeous blog!
I was so excited a few weeks ago when Kelly asked me to guest-post a popsicle recipe for her. Popsicles are my ultimate summer weakness, so almost immediately I started brainstorming ideas and inspiration.
For awhile I was in a major debate between either a rich, decadent popsicle or something fresh and fruity…Hmm tough decision…
My fruity side won over. And since the 4th of July is only a short while away, what could be better than a patriotic popsicle?
Oh, with 3 different flavors all layered into frozen deliciousness. Strawberry, vanilla yogurt, and blueberry.
Majorly yum! A combination made in heaven. You might even want to double the recipe, simply because no one I’ve ever made these popsicles for were able to have just one. (adults included)
These patriotic fruit and yogurt popsicles may look involved and complicated, but I promise they’re not. It’s just all about the 3 layers and freezing them just so.
Ingredients needed:
- strawberries
- lime juice
- yogurt (dairy free is fine)
- vanilla extract
- blueberries
First comes the strawberry layer, which is just pureed strawberries with a little bit of sweetener and a touch of lime juice. You’ll then fill each of your molds (I used Dixie cups) about â…“ full of the strawberry puree.
Freeze that for 30 minutes and then comes your vanilla yogurt layer, which is just plain yogurt with a little sweetener and a splash of vanilla extract. You’ll repeat what you did with the strawberry layer, and top the partially-frozen strawberry layer another â…“ full with the yogurt layer and freeze that for another 30 minutes
Last but not least comes the blueberry layer. Pureed blueberries, a little sweetener, and a touch of lime juice go over the yogurt layer and then it’s time for the final freeze!
These treats are icy-cold, refreshing, and POP with tons of summer berry flavor! And I can say, without a doubt, that your kids are going to go absolutely nuts for them.
Isn’t summertime just so much fun? ;)
