Vegan Valentine Heart Spritz Cookies.

These pretty pink Valentine heart spritz cookies are sure to be a hit this Valentine's Day!

  • 1 1/2 cups vegan buttery spread
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups white spelt flour all-purpose flour works, or a gluten free blend
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon allergy friendly red food coloring or use beet puree


  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the vegan buttery spread, sugar, and vanilla on medium speed until fluffy. Add the applesauce and mix until combined.
  3. With the mixer running, add the flour and salt a little at a time and mix on low speed until smooth. Add the food coloring and mix until the color is even. If you would like a darker pink, add more color as desired.
  4. Load the cookie press according to manufacturer's instructions.
  5. Press the cookies onto the prepared cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 9-11 minutes.
  6. Let cool for a few minutes on the cookie sheet, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Repeat with remaining dough.
