Ingredients

  • 1 cup red lentils picked over and rinsed well
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Garam Masala
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • crackers or chips for serving

Instructions

  • Place the red lentils in a sauce pan with enough water to cover them by one inch.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low.
  • Cook until soft, about 15-20 minutes.
  • If there is any excess water left, drain it off.
  • Add the spices, and stir.
  • Use an immersion blender to puree the dip until it's fairly smooth. If you don't have an immersion blender, you could also mash the lentils with a fork.
  • Serve dip warm with crackers, chips, or veggies.

Notes

Store leftover dip in the refrigerator. It should stay fresh for about 3 days.
