Ingredients

  • 10 Honeycrisp apples for about 12 cups sliced apples
  • cup organic cane sugar or brown sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ Tablespoon lemon juice
  • teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • Peel and thinly slice the apples and place in the slow cooker.
  • Add the sugar, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon.
  • Cook on low for about 5-6 hours, until apples are soft and tender.
  • If you want the applesauce to be chunky, you can mash the apples with a potato masher. If you want it to be smooth, you can puree it with an immersion blender.

Notes

Store leftover applesauce in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It should stay fresh for about 5 days.
You can also freeze applesauce. Pour into freezer bags and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
