This is an easy appetizer that’s perfect for the holiday season! Caramelized white bean dip is full of flavor, and goes so well with chips, veggies, or homemade gluten free crackers.

It’s the holiday season, and that means more reasons to gather! Which is a good thing! If you have dietary needs or food allergies to deal with, it can also be a stressful thing.
I like to have easy appetizer recipes at the ready that work for multiple dietary needs. This bean dip is free of the top 9 allergens, and it’s very versatile! Serve it with chips, veggies, crackers, or your favorite toasted bread.

Ingredient Notes
- Beans – I used canned Great Northern beans. You could use navy beans or white cannellini beans.
- Onions – Use yellow sweet onions – the sweeter the onion, the better results you will have when caramelizing it.
- Olive Oil – I used extra virgin olive oil. You could probably use a different oil, like avocado oil if that’s your preference.
Step by Step Instructions
- Place the onions, a tablespoon of olive oil, and a pinch of salt in a heavy-bottomed pot.

- Cook over medium low heat, stirring regularly, until the onions are golden brown.

- Place two-thirds of the caramelized onions, the drained and rinsed white beans, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in the food processor.

- Process until smooth.

- Place the dip in a bowl, and top with the remaining caramelized onions. Drizzle a little more olive oil on top if desired.
