If you’re in the mood for something salty and sweet, try making these dairy free chocolate covered pretzels! These are simple to make, and the festive sprinkle topping is just right for the holiday season.

The holidays are a time for baking, eating, and sharing. I love to make lots of fun treats – from gluten free gingerbread men to vegan snowball cookies to dairy free fudge.
It’s always nice to have a simple recipe that you know is a quick win, though! That’s where these chocolate covered pretzels come in. They’re so easy to make, and they taste incredible! There’s something about the dark chocolate and the saltiness of the pretzels that is just perfect.
This is a really easy dessert for a hectic season. You could make a batch of these a couple of days before Thanksgiving or Christmas and have them ready for your guests to snack on before the big meal.
These chocolate covered pretzels are also perfect for teacher gifts, or gifts for your kids to make and give! Dealing with the melted chocolate can get messy, so be sure to cover your surfaces and your clothing while you work.

Ingredient Notes
- Pretzels – You will need to choose the brand of pretzel that suits your dietary needs. We like Snyder’s of Hanover, because their plain (not candy coated) pretzels are made in a facility that is free of tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame. They also make gluten free pretzels. Please call to confirm that any product is safe for your particular needs.
- Dairy Free Chocolate – Both Enjoy Life and PASCHA Chocolate make delicious dairy free chocolate chips. You can use dark chocolate (my favorite!), milk chocolate, or white chocolate.
- Sprinkles – There are lots of brands of sprinkles on the market, with various allergen labelling. If you are looking for sprinkles made in a nut free, sesame free, egg free facility, you might want to check out Vermont Nut Free Chocolates, which sells sprinkles packaged in one pound bags.
Step by Step Instructions
- Place the dairy free chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for one minute, then stir. If needed, microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring in between, until it is fully melted.

- Place your pretzels in a bowl.

- Dip each pretzel in the chocolate, and let the excess drip off.

- Place the chocolate covered pretzels on cookie sheets that are lined with waxed paper. Put sprinkles on top if desired.

- Put the cookie sheets in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes so that the chocolate can firm up. Enjoy!

Variations
- Try making these with a variety of pretzel shapes. You can do pretzel twists, snaps, or rods.
- You can drizzle contrasting chocolate over the finished pretzels. If you dip them in dark chocolate, try adding a drizzle of white chocolate for a pretty accent.
