This dairy free and vegan oreo milkshake is a wonderful treat. You won’t feel like you’re missing out with this delectable dessert.Â
Sometimes you’re just in the mood to treat yourself. Whether it’s a special occasion, or a the end of a long week, a sweet dessert can be the perfect way to celebrate. This vegan oreo milkshake is so easy to whip up – just a couple of minutes and you’ll have a treat to share or to keep to yourself.
I remember the days before we had nut allergies in our family – stopping to get a milkshake was a quick treat that we often enjoyed. My favorite was an oreo milkshake.
Of course, there are a lot of risks involved with an ice cream shop. There are so many allergens around – dairy, tree nuts, peanuts…the risk of cross contamination is high. That’s why this vegan oreo milkshake recipe was born. My boys wanted a special treat, and it was easy to make this cookies and cream milkshake for them at home in our own safe kitchen.
Now if you’re wondering about what kind of “oreo” type cookie to use, there are a few different options. Please call the companies to make sure that any product is safe for your allergies.
Oreos are vegan, but they do contain wheat and soy. If you would like information on whether original oreos are safe for peanut or tree nut allergies, you can learn more here.
Kinnikinnick has gluten free oreo-type cookies, which do contain soy, but are free of many of the top allergens. Schar is another gluten free brand, and Back to Nature is another vegan option.
There are other varieties out there, but if you can’t find any that work for your dietary needs, you can make gluten free and vegan chocolate sandwich cookies from scratch and use them in this recipe.

Hey Kelly, do you know when you make the milkshake how much 2 scoops of ice cream weigh? Did you check either in grams or ounces by any chance?
