Baked sweet potato fries are an easy, healthy side dish! Allergy friendly, comforting, and delicious!

Baked sweet potato fries are gluten free and delicious! An easy, comforting recipe.

Don’t you love sweet potatoes? There are so many tasty ways to eat them – roasted, simmered in curry, even hidden in cookies.

But my favorite way to eat them is really the simplest – baked sweet potato fries.

Just a few humble ingredients – sweet potatoes, olive oil, and a little seasoning, and you’ll have perfectly baked sweet potato fries to enjoy as a side or snack.

Gluten free and vegan sweet potato fries - tasty and easy to make!

You can make as many baked sweet potato fries as you want – just double or triple the amount in the recipe. You’ll want to use a couple of baking sheets, and make sure that they aren’t overcrowded. If the sweet potato fries are too close together, you’ll wind up with fries that are either underdone or too soggy.

You don’t have to use the garlic powder and onion powder – it does give these fries a nice flavor, but they are also perfectly delicious with just sea salt.

Baked sweet potato fries are a healthy snack or side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 sweet potatoes large
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • sea salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Peel the sweet potatoes, and slice them into thin strips, about a centimeter thick. You don't have to go too thin, because they will burn.

  3. Toss the sweet potato fries with the olive oil and the garlic powder and onion powder. Spread out on the two cookie sheets, make sure that they are not overcrowded.

  4. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes. Stir the fries several times. Once tender, remove from the oven and sprinkle with coarse sea salt or flakes. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

I made these with very large sweet potatoes. You know, the huge ones you see at the store. If you can only find medium sweet potatoes, you will probably want to use four of them.

Thank you for your recipes! I’m a new mom to an infant with newly diagnosed food allergies and I was so happy and excited to see this site! It was such a relief and encouragement to me after a couple disheartening weeks of subsisting on lettuce, chicken, and rice.
