Chocolate covered strawberries are an easy and elegant dessert that’s simple to make! This sweet treat is naturally gluten free and allergy friendly.
I LOVE chocolate covered strawberries…they are my absolute favorite.
Every year I get to make enormous amounts of them for my student recital – I love doing it, I feel like it’s such a treat, and at least there’s a little health in there – it IS fruit after all, right? After white-knuckling it through everyone’s performance, I don’t feel bad at all having a treat (or two, or seven).
Darryl often plays piano for fancy gigs where they have lots of desserts, and he knows that I will be glad if he sneaks home a chocolate strawberry or two.
If you haven’t made homemade chocolate covered strawberries before, you really need to, because they are so very easy, and require just two ingredients and time in the refrigerator.
It’s nice too, because these can be a great treat for people with special dietary needs since you can easily get vegan chocolate chips and these treats are naturally gluten free.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries.
It's so easy to make homemade chocolate covered strawberries! These are an elegant dessert for your next celebration.
Ingredients
- 24 strawberries
- 16 ounces dairy free chocolate chips
Instructions
-
Pick out the prettiest, sweetest strawberries you can find. Rinse and let them dry on paper towels. They must be totally dry before you dip them.
-
Melt one cup of chocolate chips in the microwave for one minute, then stir, then microwave for ten seconds at a time until melted and smooth. Do not overheat the chocolate. I used to use Nestle Tollhouse semi-sweet chips. Since we are now dairy free, I now use Enjoy Life Brand Chocolate chips.
-
Dip each berry in the melted chocolate and set it on wax paper lined cookie sheets. If you run out of chocolate, melt some more.
-
Once you've dipped all the berries, stick the sheets in the fridge to let the chocolate harden. This happens pretty quickly - about 15-20 minutes or so.
-
Transfer finished berries to covered containers to store, but they are really best eaten right away. They get a bit mushy if you try to keep them overnight.
These chocolate covered strawberries are:
- elegant and delicious
- very simple to make
- perfect for your next party
