Try a new twist on Chex mix for fall! This is a sweet, perfectly spiced blend for autumn. No nuts, gluten, or dairy in this allergy friendly treat – just lots of flavor!

We love Chex mix in our house – it’s a favorite, especially around the holidays! My boys always request that I make a big batch of nut free sweet and spicy Chex mix for Thanksgiving. It’s one thing that’s easy to make ahead of time, and it helps everyone from getting too hungry while they’re waiting for the big meal.
I decided to try a different recipe for fall – this is a sweet version, with cinnamon, ground ginger, and brown sugar. It’s the perfect snack to enjoy while watching a football game! It’d also be great for packing in lunches. This recipe really reminds me of cinnamon toast crunch!

Ingredient Notes
- Chex – I used rice chex and corn chex, because those are gluten free. If you aren’t gluten free, you could add some wheat chex if you like.
- Vegan Buttery Spread – Melted vegan buttery spread gives this a great flavor, and helps the spices stick to the cereal. If you aren’t dairy free, go ahead and use real butter.
- Spices – I used cinnamon and ground ginger, as well as vanilla extract. If you would prefer to use a pumpkin spice blend, you can do that.
Step by Step Instructions
- Melt the vegan buttery spread, and add the brown sugar, spices, and vanilla.

- Add the corn chex and rice chex, and use a large spoon to stir until everything is evenly coated.

- Spread on a rimmed baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper.

- Bake at 250 degrees F for about 50 minutes, stirring occasionally. Allow to cool before eating.

Additions
Try adding any of these ingredients to make this recipe the way you like it!
- Pretzels – I added some pretzels to my serving when I ate this, and I loved it. I like sweet and salty things, so this is my favorite addition. One of my sons hates pretzels, so I didn’t include them here.
- Pumpkin Seeds – Roasted pumpkin seeds would add a little more crunch to the mix.
- Graham Crackers – Allergy friendly graham crackers would be a good addition! Try brands like Partake or Kinnikinnick to keep this recipe gluten free.
